Sidmouth Festival

For many traditional musicians and singers a visit to the international folklore festival at Sidmouth, Devon, England is an annual pilgrimage.

The long sea-front promenade resounds to the sound of the crashing breakers, accordians and concertinas, clog dancers and morris dancers' bells, guising and mumming during the entire first week of August.

The festival closes with a torchlight procession which makes it's way along the shingle beach to dowse the flaming torches in the sea.
