Crop formations - commonly called "crop circles" - have been appearing in crops in increasing numbers and complexity since the early 1980s.

Although the earliest formations were simple circular shapes, over the years the motifs have become extremely complex.

Researchers cannot agree to their provenance, but one thing that is certain is that the crop formations draw ever-increasing numbers of visitors each year to appreciate the Great Outdoors

The very best way to see crop formations and hill figures is from the air.
