Roche Rock

Roche Rock

Roche Rock in Cornwall, England, rises 30m to dominate the surrounding clay quarries where once was wild moorland.

The tiny chapel which is built into the living rock of the summit is dedicated St Michael, and lies directly on the St Michael Line ley alignment as detailed by Paul Broadhurst and Hamish Miller in The Sun and The Serpent.

It is said that the celtic saint and first bishop of Cornwall, St Conan, had his hermitage here on this wild and powerful tor before he went to St Michael's Mount, a key point on the St Michael alignment as well as on the Apollo alignment described in The Dance of The Dragon.

A holy well is situated on slope below the hermitage. In former times there was a baptistry, and the well attracted a pilgrimage before sunrise on holy Thursday and the following two Thursdays. However the well is now difficult to locate.

Closeby is the Nine Maidens megalithic stone row and Bedruthan steps.
